Top 10 Buzzing Bands at Pitchfork Music Festival

We have two big passions at RockDex:  Music and Data.  We gather a ton of data on the music industry--and we love drilling into it to gain valuable insights and spot trends.  Today we turned our massive music tracking guns on the bands playing this weekend's Pitchfork Music Festival to see who had the most Social Buzz.

Top 10 Buzzing Bands:

Social Buzz is one of the metrics that goes into computing an artists RockDex Score.  It is calculated by scouring blogs, Twitter, blip.fm, and many more sites for posts about a band.  Along with a Social Buzz Score, the other metrics that we analyze to determine a RockDex Score are:

     - Social Media Score - based on an artists prescence on Youtube, Flickr, and other sites.
     - Fan Score - is gathered from sites like Myspace, Last.FM, Eventful, iLike, and more.
     - Listens Score - is calculated from plays on Myspace, Last.FM, and other music sites.
